The Connemara Smokehouse is a Traditional Family Business owned and run by Graham Roberts and his wife Saoirse where every product is handmade in the traditional way.
The Company was founded in 1979 by Graham’s parents John & Bridget using a smoking plant that was first commissioned in 1946 which we still use today.
Traditional production methods and very high quality products have always been our priority.
Having worked in the Smokehouse from an early age, Graham has a vast knowledge of every aspect of the business. He now runs the business and has introduced many new ideas and products of his own which have gained world-renown and have won many prestigious awards and recognition.
The third generation of the Roberts family is now taking a keen interest in learning the skills required to run the family business as they still have a lot of learning and growing to do first before taking a more active roll.
We are one of the few remaining smokehouses still specialising in Wild Salmon, from this we produce smoked salmon, gravadlax, Roast and Honey Roast smoked Irish Salmon. In 1998 we began using ‘organically grown’ Irish salmon and this has become an important part of our production today.
